This new intensive language course is free of registration fees, and it has a lenght of 75 hours, from March to June 2010. Promoted by the Secretaría Xeral de Política Lingüística of the Xunta de Galicia, its aim is to prepare the CELGA exams, the official certification system of Galician language adapted to the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The students will be divided into two groups: the beginner level every Monday and Wednesday, and the CELGA 3 level, every Tuesday and Thursday. The timetable will be from 6pm to 9pm.
Galician is one of the four co-official languages in Spain and is spoken by nearly 3 million people. Studying Galician develops the understanding of the Iberian Peninsula as a thriving composite of different historical cultures and, due to the language’s links to Portuguese, it will also bring the student in contact with Portuguese speaking countries and their history.
