Brussels, December 16th 2009. The candidates interested in begin or improve their knowledge in Galician language are invited to attend the new Galician lessons from the beggining of February, in a new intensive language course organized by the Fundación Galicia Europa Brussels’ office. This training activity, promoted by the Secretaría Xeral de Política Lingüística of the Xunta de Galicia, is addressed to obtain the CELGA, the official certificate of Galician language set by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Galician is one of the four co-official languages in Spain and is spoken by nearly 3 million people. Studying Galician develops the understanding of the Iberian Peninsula as a thriving composite of different historical cultures and, due to the language’s links to Portuguese, it will also bring the student in contact with Portuguese speaking countries and their history.
The course has a duration of 75 hours in two lessons per week, from 18h00 to 21h00. The level of the course will be decided depending on the level of the interested candidates, and the activity will only take place if there are enough pupils registered. The course has no registration fees and will take place in the Fundación Galicia Europa Brussels office: rue de la Loi 38, 1040. Brussels.
