Brussels, 29 June 2015.- The vice-president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, presided the board"s meeting of Fundación Galicia Europa (FGE) held today in Santiago de Compostela. In this meeting, the admission of the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) as part of the board was decided. Regarding the budget, and after an audit, 2014 period closed with a surplus.
This meeting was an opportunity
to review the work made in 2014, with important activities such as the participation
of the president of the Xunta de Galicia to Brussels in the Cohesion Forum
organised by the European Commission; the visit of commissioner of Regional
Policy, Johannes Hanh to Galicia, or the awareness in important issues such as
the demographic challenges.
In 2014, the FGE
continued to encourage the participation of Galician organizations in European
projects through information and counselling. With this objective in mind, the
FGE also published a manual on European financing 2014 – 2020.
The FGE also helped to
promote Galicia in Brussels, participating in activities such as the Open Doors
Day or the E Day organised by the Cervantes Institute and also published information
about the EU aimed for the Galician public in its website.
This meeting was also
used as an opportunity to review the activities done in this first semester of
2015, for instance the visit of the president of the Xunta the Galicia to
Brussels to meet some of the new commissioners, or the elaboration of an
opinion on the future of the European aquaculture at the CoR.
The FGE continues to
support the training of the youngest through its grants aimed to get to know
how the EU works. At the same time, it recently published a training program on
European financing.
