Brussels, 7 May 2015.- The director-general for External Relations and with the EU, Jesús Gamallo, and the dean of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Juan Viaño, attended a debate on the European Union and the political and economic integration on the Fonseca Palace in Santiago de Compostela.

This initiative was organised on the Europe Day, celebrated on May the 9th and Xunta the Galicia, FGE and the USC were in charge of the organisation.

University students from several disciplines were the protagonists on this debate. The key question was “Is this the EU that we want?” due to the many political, economic and social challenges that the EU has been facing recently.

The students were organised in two teams: “Schuman” and “Monet” with reference to the historical founders of the EU. A jury formed by teachers, experts on the EU and in communication selected the best speaker.
