FGE presents the project about digitalization of cultural tourism BASSERVICES EUROPE

According to its objective of promoting wide scope European projects, the FGE hosted on December 2nd the presentation of BASSERVICES EUROPE, a proposal for the EU Seventh Framework Program (FP7).

The digital platform aims to gather and improve the access to tourism and culture information resources in Europe, and it is an original idea of the consulting group Costales, Fernández y Asociados. To put it aims into practice, the initiative relies on the coordination of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and the colaboration of important international institutions.



The event developed in the FGE counted with the intervention of Luca del Colombo, representantive of the Tourism Unit of the European Commission´s Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry, who introduced the current situation of tourism in Europe, reminding the EU committment to the promotion of tourism and cultural heritage from a sustainable approach.

The BASSERVICES EUROPE´s creator presented the project’s main features. After an introduction about the tourism information tools available today, Amparo Costales explained her proposal: a platform which hosts all the contents related to European cultural tourism, offering a multilingual thesaurus to both professionals and general public.

The workshop also hosted the intervention of several University and Research Center’s representatives: María José Piñeira from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Anders Hedetoftm from the Center for Regional and Tourism Research of Denmark, and Matthias Kracht from the Free University of Berlin.
