Brussels, 22 July 2015.- This semester, Galicia takes over the representation of the autonomous communities of Spain at the Employment group of the European Council. This responsibility belongs to the Consellería de Traballo e Benestar of the Xunta de Galicia. This group aims to prepare the EPSCO meetings.
The director-general
of Employment, Ana María Díaz, visited Brussels to participate in one of the
group’s meetings. In this meeting, the representatives discussed the amendments
of the European Parliament to a document on the guidelines of the European employment
policies.
On the next
months, Galicia will participate in these meetings to achieve a common proposal
among the autonomous communities and bring it to the EPSCO meeting on October
and December.
Díaz also met
with the director of the Galicia Europa Foundation (FGE), Ana Ramos, and with
the autonomic representative of the Spanish Representation to the EU, Yolanda
Ortiz, to go into detail about the role that Galicia will play during these six
months at this working group of the Council.
